My Bass boat may up there in years, but like her owner, she is not old! We don’t feel old! We are always ready to get out on the water again and again! Maybe that’s why I purchased the old Adventure. Looking at her long sleek hull, something caught my eye. It was the registry numbers! Something was familiar in the numbers. Her birth registry numbers were the same as my own!

Buzzbaits In The Fall?
Posted on August 22, 2008
When the water begins to cool and shad move in the shallows, the big bass move in too. Of course, we know it’s because bass love shad, it’s their favorite food in many lakes.
Once they are in the shallows and hugging the bank you want to
throw your buzzer parallel with the bank. Sometimes, you will get a lot of blow-ups but no fish. This is usually because the bass want the buzzbait at a slower pace. One way to do this effectively is to go from a small blade to a big blade. That allows you to work the buzzbait more slowly and still keep it on top.

Skeletor the Largemouth Bass
Posted on August 15, 2008
It was fall of 2007, I had just made it back from Iraq. The son and I decided to take a ride to a pond on base and do some bass fishing. I have like to use top water baits like Hula Poppers or Buzz baits this time of year, and I was, with no success other than a few quick hits. However my son was killing the Bluegill and little largemouth bass with his beetle spin.
Well actually he wasn’t using a beetle spin in the traditional sense. We had removed the split tail body and placed a lime green rubber shade body on it. Worked like a charm, as always.

The Hula Popper: Excitement in a Skirt
Posted on August 6, 2008
Besides the beetle spin, one of my other favorite lures is the Hula Popper. I would say this is probably one of my most productive top water lures. The Hula Popper is a fun and exciting lure to use. The strikes on a Hula Popper can be startling. When used properly it creates a loud popping noise due to the concave design at the mouth of the lure. The Hula skirt on the tail adds a visually enticing add on to the noise the popper creates.

The Beetle Spin: Slayer of Fish
Posted on July 30, 2008
The beetle spin is probably “the go-to” lure in my tackle box. I carry this bait, along with a light rod and reel setup, everywhere I go. The beetle spin is my “fail safe” lure. Whenever I am having one of those days fishing where it is like the Dead Sea everywhere I go I can always count on the beetle spin to land something, maybe not a bass, but something.
